As a medical doctor and lawyer, Dr. Silva has the benefit of using his medical education in helping clients to recover their losses in catastrophic injuries. He chose to practice law exclusively because each case is unique and challenging, allowing him to use all of his academic accomplishments on a daily basis. He views his role in the attorney-client relationship as the key to giving the client all the information regarding their case so they can make an informed decision about which course to take regarding settlements and trials. Having the experience of doing medical malpractice litigation and catastrophic injury litigation benefits the clients in that the case can be prosecuted quickly and efficiently, including knowing and having a working relationship with opposing counsel and judges.
Education & Medical Background
Dr. Silva attended the University of Florida, College of Medicine, graduating as a member of the Junior Honors Early Admission Program in 1991. Subsequently, he completed an internship in Family Medicine and a Residency in Ophthalmology, all at the University of Florida. Dr. Silva established a successful private practice in Ophthalmology in South Florida in 1995. He frequently reviewed medical malpractice cases as an expert during his practice.
After Dr. Silva completed Law School, he decided to exclusively dedicate his time to being a patient advocate and represent victims of personal injury and medical negligence. He is a member of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, the Florida Bar, and is admitted to practice in Federal Court in the Southern District.
Dr. Silva actively litigates cases involving catastrophic injuries, personal and financial, and wrongful death on behalf of the victims, with a concentration on medical malpractice cases. These cases include vehicular collision, medical negligence and slip and falls. With Dr. Silva's medical background, he can rapidly determine which cases are worthwhile pursuing, thereby speeding the process of litigation in pursuing millions of dollars for his clients.
