Alexa M. Somera

Alexa focuses her practice on complex litigation, as well as arbitrations, particularly in the area of medical malpractice and personal injury.
Alexa’s experience includes a clerkship with former Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Michael A. Hanzman while he presided over the civil trial stemming from the 2021 Surfside building collapse that killed 98 people and a summer clerkship with the prestigious firm of Conroy Simberg.
Born and raised in South Florida, Alexa graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and received her
J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law graduating cum laude.
Alexa received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award, which is awarded to the student with the highest grade in Consumer Protection and Topics in Legal Analysis.
Alexa is actively involved in pro bono work in South Florida. Alexa became dedicated to pro bono work after hearing former Michigan Chief Justice Bridget Mary McCormick explain that 85% to 92% of Americans cannot afford a lawyer.
